Exposure and shutter speed
- Exposure: what really is exposure ?
In simple words, exposure is the professional term for light.
The three types of exposure are : - Underexposed
- Optimal exposure
- Overexposed
In an underexposed picture you get very good details of the sky. Optimal exposure is normally the default setting of a camera and lastly overexposed is where you capture the mid-tones of a photo.
Usually we control the exposure to show the emotions in the subjects face but in glamourous shoots we use high-key lighting to show everything well glammed.
High Dynamic Range (HDR): It's the type of photography where you mix together the three type of exposure in one photo.
Three pillars of exposure
- Shutter speed :
Shutter speed is exactly what it sounds like: It's the speed at which the shutter of the camera closes. A fast shutter speed creates a shorter exposure — the amount of light the camera takes in — and a slow shutter speed gives the photographer a longer exposure.
